The Brief:

To develop and design an immersive brand experience for House of Tequila’s Olmeca “Shot Kings” platform.

“Shot Kings” is an Olmeca Tequila bartender program that looks to showcase new ways of preparing and drinking tequila shots. Four international teams set out to battle one another for the crown by showcasing their innovative ritual to the world.

We were approached to design and develop the event experience for House Of Tequila, and to produce the final event in the “Shot Kings” competition series, to be held in Cape Town.

The Idea:

Inspired by Olmeca’s infectious, playful, larger-than-life brand personality, we wanted to create a fully-immersive brand and event experience.

This was achieved by building an environment and visual narrative that would transport the consumer into the world of Olmeca, positioning the bartenders and their wicked personalities as the stars of the show.

To transform District Nightclub into an immersive world of Olmeca Tequila. We wanted the Olmeca brand, product and bartenders to shine through the entire experience. We approached it by:

  • Identifying the most meaningful and engaging touch points for activations and branding visibility opportunities
  • Ensuring the layout positioned the competitors and the competition bar at the centre of the action
  • Utilising live video feeds and LED screens to give the crowd a close-up look at the barmen as they competed for the crown
  • Developing a set of brand assets for the event
  • Designing a fully choreographed show with performers and acts

What made it Bold:

District Nightclub became a perfectly transformed lighthouse venue and Olmeca brand experience.

We brought interactive activation touch points, including live makeup artists, a GIF photobooth and an Olmeca-branded light tunnel

We developed branded makeup stations, a giant Olmeca head for the entrance and voting stations, bar branding and more

For entertainment we developed live choreographed shows with professional dancers in Olmeca outfits

We heightened engagement with bartender team introductions, consisting of AV, music and lighting packages. This gave each bartender team their moment in the spotlight.

Top local live acts and DJs brought Olmeca’s infectious party energy and spirit to life. With the energy high and the tequila flowing, the party carried on long into the night!
